As a company that offers blind cleaning in the Twin Cities, we
have learned a lot over the years. While you can do a few things at home to
keep your blinds nice and clean, it is still important to call a blind cleaning
service like ours to freshen up your blinds a few times a year. But in between
our visits, there are a few at-home cleaning methods you can use to help them
stay looking good. Here are a few tips from the experts at Bright Blinds.
Use a Feather Duster
While this blind cleaning method might cause dust to fly
around, it's still pretty effective in terms of cleaning your blinds. Just be
sure to get some ventilation in the room by turning a fan on or opening the
window. This is best for blinds that only have a thin layer of dust on them.
Simply open your blinds and dust in between to make sure you get as much dust
as possible.
Use a Vacuum Cleaner
Most vacuum cleaners come with various attachments, and one
of them should be a duster brush. Turn your vacuum onto the low setting and use
this attachment for blind cleaning. This method is usually even better than
using a feather duster because even less dust will get into the air and fly
around. You could also use a Swiffer if you have one. Those can be effective at
blind cleaning too.
Use Water
Depending on what your blinds are made out of, you could
also use dust polish to clean them. This is especially effective on wooden
blinds. But if you are unsure or do not want to use dust polish, plain water
will do. But if your blinds are made out of wood, be sure you do not saturate
them in water. This could cause them to warp, spot or become discolored.
